It is absolutely amazing to me to see all the ranting and raving about how people got scammed by this moving company and scammed by that moving company when there is so much information out there on how NOT to scammed by moving companies. I thought this to be very odd, so I am writing this article: How to get scammed by moving companies.

In my research for this article I have come to the conclusion that there are really only two ways for you to get scammed by moving companies: 1) Lazy research, and 2) being too cheap for your own good.

Let me explain each to you so you really understand these two steps of how to get scammed by moving companies:

Lazy Research

I could list several articles here in this blog that I have written that explain how moving company scams work, what to look out for, how to avoid, and more importantly research the companies to make sure they are on the up and up. My most popular article by far is Craigslist Mover Scams.

But what good is this article if it is never read? Or how good is the article if it is never FOLLOWED? It is good for nothing is the answer.

Far and away this step is the most important step in how to get scammed by moving companies. If you do not take the time...(No: too lazy)...to do the research on the moving companies then of course you are going to get scammed.

Taking Low-Ball Estimates

The second way to get scammed by moving companies is being cheap. It is human nature to want to get the best possible service at the lowest price. Nothing wrong with that.

Lets put this in another persepective: You want a pair your favorite jeans. These jeans are only bought at Macy's. Of course you could go to Walmart and buy a knock off pair for $15 that will rip and tear if you look at them wrong, or you could go to Macy's when there is a sale on those jeans.

Too often you are hiring a moving company from "Walmart" instead of buying on sale at "Macy's". And this is why being lazy in your research is so crucial...How do you know if you are getting a "Walmart" quality moving company or a "Macy's" quality moving company when you don't do research.

So in lieu of research often you take the quickest route and take the lowest moving estimate. This is second way to get scammed by moving companies.

So lets recap: The two steps in how to get scammed by moving companies is:

Being too damn lazy to do proper research, and
Being to damn cheap.
